Our idea

At little purple dot we believe we should all take responsibility for trying to ensure our purchasing habits do not contribute to unethical, inhumane and environmentally damaging commercial practices around the world.

However we realise it is often difficult and time consuming to source an ethical version of the item you want. We think a UK nationwide ethical directory would help. A directory mapping local businesses and online shops selling the most ethical products.

The project

So that’s why we’ve started the little purple dot ethical directory project. Everyone can pool their knowledge about businesses that are selling ethical products, or using such products in their services, and we can create a directory together.

Examples of ethical products are those that are fairly-traded, organic, secondhand, environmentally sustainable and that respect human rights and animal welfare.

The directory covers a full range of business types and entries can be submitted for free.

To encourage strong communities we also think it is important to support local businesses that are doing their bit. Therefore entries are categorised by location and plotted on a map meaning that you can easily find, and add, local businesses in your area as well as online stores.
